For once, I’m not going to go on about vomit.
And going to share with you the new stuff in my life, and Oh, if only you knew… So to start off, I’ve moved. I’m not saying it wasn’t good at Auguste’s, but we were kind of climbing onto each other. So now I live with Lisa, 23, studies architecture; and Stefan, 25, studies anthropology. I’ve been living with them for almost two weeks, and it’s pretty cool. But I do feel like I’m leading a stereotypical student life. Like for one, I now live in the hip trendy district of Vienna (Number seven), and it’s got all these fashionable boutiques, and artsy cafés and stuff, and I’m sure that if I weren’t some kind of social ra-tard, I’m sure it’d be very pleasant, but despite my incapability to interact with people, it’s still a really lovely place to live, and it’s really nice just to have a walk around the neighborhood. It is a change from the “Ghetto” that the sixteenth district is, where I lived with Auguste (I say Ghetto, because that’s the way the Viennese view it, but if all the dodgy neighborhoods were that way, the world would be a better place). And so in this neighborhood, everyone rides a bike, and all the corner shops are organic and that kind of stuff. And the flat looks really studenty, you know, with posters on the walls, some stuff lying around, plants, and politically committed magazines… And our beliefs are transferred into our plates, because we too eat organic, and as little meat as possible, and that kind of stuff. But in amongst all of that, there is one thing youngsters here don’t do, and that would be recycling. Which is something that I lurve doing (except at Mum’s, because then, there’s just too much stuff). But that’s all right, I’m now the one in charge of recycling at home.
So them two have the big rooms, and I’ve got the small one, and there’s no living room, but there is a nice comfy bench in the kitchen, and that’s where we often lie around (and that’s precisely where I’m hailing you from), and, as a respectful introvert, I also spend some time in my room. But I don’t have any furniture yet, except for my bed, and a kind of box thingy (Vielen Dank Auguste!). But yeah, the kitchen is the chit-chat area, but they have to get to uni, and do some work and stuff, so when I’m bored, I go into the kitchen and wait for somebody to show up to talk. Yeah, they are cool. But it is the very first time that I’ve moved in with absolute strangers, so it was a bit weird at the beginning. And it’s no sure plan, but we’re supposed to go and see Alice im Wunderland at the imax tonight!
The fact that I now have my own dwelling means that I can officially repeat my invitation to those who want to come to spend some time in Vienna. Knowing that it’d be much simpler if it were someone who were okay at the idea of sleeping in my bed. Yeah, just kind of out of the blue, but I really can’t wait for someone to come visit. It happens often when I’m just walking around that I think “Ah, he would like that” or “Aah, I can’t wait to come here with her” (him and her being generic pronouns, I hope you got that). And so I’m not just saying that, anybody is welcome. Just warn me a couple of days in advance so that I can tell my flat mates, and we’ll have a laugh.
And so I was able to move out of Auguste’s because I have found a job!!! And like a real one, where I have to go in everyday and stuff. So you know those intensive languages courses that’ll cost you an arm and a leg, well I hope you’ll be ecstatic to find out that they hire incompetent inexperienced people like me!!! I am a “Sprachtrainer”, or a language trainer if you prefer, and for the mo, I’ve only got one pupil (Nora, 22, wants to become a nurse), and from next Monday, I should have a new one. Up till now it’s been pretty cool, all I have to do is show up, speak English with a lovely young lady, and I get generously paid for it. But it’s not my only job. When I got here at the very beginning, I replied to an ad (on February 6th), where the only request basically was to speak French. So they got back at me an’ all, and it all went real well (I had two telephone interviews, and one real life one), but what really bugs me is how slowly it’s all going (I start on April 6th. TWO MONTHS). And the job is a rockin’ one, let me explain. A quiz show from Quebec is produced in Vienna, for the Producer is from here. BUT he doesn’t speak a word of French, which is weird because the whole program is in French. I couldn’t tell you why… And so the job I applied for war to be a call agent, and be the guy on the phone when people like ring up to answer questions, and then take care of the winners and all of that. And I think it would have been really cool, but I didn’t get that job. I am going to be the Graphics Operator for a transatlantic television program!!! So I don’t know exactly what that means, because all my interviews revolved around becoming the telephone guy, so I couldn’t tell you, but the simple fact to be working with Quebec and Quebec French assures me to have a blast. And you know, I’m still looking for other stuff, like I’ve got another interview tomorrow for some kind of private lessons company, and I like private tuition, so that’d be pretty cool.
Très bien, I hope all my news will have brought joy to your hearts. On a different topic, but also is the news is the fact that I flew a kite the other day! And late on that night I was hugged by a prostitute (They really tend to come onto you over here, it’s really surprising, I even clearly understood one lady saying “Come on, let’s go and fuck”. You can imagine my surprise), and ever since I’ve moved, I’ve had ice cream every single day, it’s just tooooooo gooooooood.
